Unnamed Estate, 1999
Materials: Dacron, showerproof fabric, zipper, moving light, infra-red sensor
A public artwork exhibited as a part of the group exhibition 20:20 vision, using the outdoor area alongside the Tin Sheds Gallery, Camperdown. At night, the movement of passersby triggered a light to sweep across the surface of the form/figure, drawing attention to it. This work grew out of the experience of seeing a homeless man sleeping in a park over a number of months. During the exhibition, Sydney University's Security Department received several calls from people who were concerned about the inert, or possibly dead, person. The bench in this site is often a temporary home.
