Away Match, 1999

A semi-collaborative, open-studio project with Lisa Kelly at Artspace, Sydney. Images of the studio Lisa and I shared for two months were relayed to a closed-circuit television monitor in the gallery, with an invitation to visitors to speak to us via intercom and to come and visit us while we were working in the studio. We were interested in the changing social, historical and political landscapes in the suburbs surrounding Artspace (and how little Artspace seemed to interact with the area or people who lived there); and in presenting some of the background research and processes of making that is often lost or hidden in finished work.
