Mapping Colour, 2022
Anne Kay, Mapping Colour, 2021-2022
Mapping Colour was produced following research into the multiple ways in which colour theory has been represented over time historically, I discovered that unlike the standard colour wheel we know today, there have been a multitude of two-dimensional and three-dimensional diagrammatic forms used to represent earlier colour schemas.
For own formal representation of colour I used a low-relief form that is a literal interaction with the picture plane itself. I have chosen a colour schema based on complementary or split complementary colours possible in a set of 48 colour Conte pastel set to suggest an aerial view of mountains and plains.
The final image of this series shows photographs of colour schemes I found during my research, which I made available for the audience to peruse.
