Materials: 'weeds', timber, pressed plants, paint binder, ink
Plants commonly referred to as 'weeds' were woven into the wire mesh covering the front of the gallery. This was the second in a series of works using weeds to metaphorically explore systems of knowledge, use-value and aesthetics. In a box alongside the work, small paper works were offered for visitors or passersby to take, each with a pressed, preserved plant and hand-written text with the name, anecdotal histories and country of origin of the plant. Over the three weeks of the exhibition the plants withered and faded, marking time during the process of dying. Exhibited at First Draft Gallery, Surry Hills.
