Flue, 1993

Materials: Timber, paint, mirrors

An installation made for the skylight at the Performance Space, Sydney, this work was a periscope constructed from 'double-log cabin', a domestic timber. It offered a (banal) view of the roof from the interior of the Performance Space. It was a device to see what was there and, by chance, a horizontal illusory space appeared to extend behind and beyond the viewing hole, allowing you to see what was, in fact, not there. Included in the group exhibition, Untitled, 1993 at Performance Space, Sydney.
