Floral Clock, 1994
Materials: 'weeds', timber, pressed plants, paint binder, ink
Plants commonly referred to as 'weeds' were woven into the wire mesh covering the front of the gallery. This was the second in a series of works using weeds to metaphorically explore systems of knowledge, use-value and aesthetics. In a box alongside the work, small paper works were offered for visitors or passersby to take, each with a pressed, preserved plant and hand-written text with the name, anecdotal histories and country of origin of the plant. Exhibited at First Draft Gallery, Surry Hills.
